A tense situation unfolded at Strawberry Crest High School on Monday after a reported threat prompted officials to place the campus on lockdown while authorities investigated.
According to local officials, the lockdown was initiated as a precaution after school administrators received information about a potential safety concern on campus in Dover, Florida. School officials immediately activated safety protocols, securing classrooms and restricting movement throughout the building while law enforcement responded.
Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the campus shortly after the report and began conducting a search of the school grounds to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.
During the lockdown, students remained inside their classrooms while teachers followed established emergency procedures. Parents and guardians were notified about the situation, and many turned to social media seeking updates as authorities worked to determine the nature of the reported threat.
Officials have not yet released specific details about what prompted the lockdown or whether the threat was considered credible. Authorities said the decision to lock down the campus was made out of an abundance of caution while investigators assessed the situation.
Law enforcement officers remained on campus as the investigation continued, coordinating with school administrators to maintain order and provide updates to families. Authorities emphasized that ensuring the safety of students and staff remained their top priority as the situation was being addressed.
